Queer Therapy Practice
Who We Are
We are Queer Therapy Practice — a small collective of Gestalt therapists and counsellors offering one‑to‑one therapy for people who want the truth of their queer experience met, not managed. We will not be subsumed into the city, instead breaking through gaps and refusing to allow queer life to be flattened. We’re not here to soothe you into the system. We’re here to stay awake with you. We are all qualified to practise and are registered with the BACP or NCPS. Each of us is part of the queer community.

I’m Ben Ross (MNCPS Acc.), a Gestalt counsellor working right opposite Liverpool Street Station, London. I trained in counselling at the Gestalt Centre, London, and am an accredited registrant member of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am also an advanced trainee in Gestalt Psychotherapy.
I see therapy as a space for authentic contact, exploration and unfolding clarity, rather than diagnosis or repair. You don’t come here because something’s “broken”, you come because you want support in understanding yourself more deeply, learning new ways of relating, and discovering what freedom and connection look like for you.
Hettie Malcomson
I am a qualified Gestalt counsellor (MBACP), a sociologist of music (PhD, Cambridge) and a composer. My queerness and my background in music and ethnography shapes how I listen closely and without judgement to how people experience their lives, relationships and identities. Gestalt teaches us to tune in, move with, together. I work online and in-person in Cambridge, London and Mexico City.

I qualified in humanistic counselling (MBACP) and am currently in advanced training in Gestalt Psychotherapy for groups and individuals. I love the way Gestalt resonates with queerness. It puts our experience of the world front and centre. It encourages us to connect with the world, taking in new experiences, but chewing them over to check they fit with us.

Who We Work With
We don’t draw lines around who we’re willing to work with. If there is something in you that wants to be in a room where queerness is celebrated and affirmed, not pathologised or minimised, then get in touch.
.
How We Work
We follow the charge, not the script or technique. The spark, the ache, the silence that echoes a storm gathering or a moment of rest and connection. We experiment, disrupt, slow down, lean in — whatever the moment demands. This is not therapy as sedation. This is therapy as awakening. It goes without saying that we have a queer-affirming, trans-affirming approach (as we think all therapists should).
.
Gestalt
Gestalt is our stance of radical acceptance and presence. A way of meeting another where they are at without requiring any tidying or adapting, but accepting those things when they are there. We notice our bodies as well as our minds and words. We don’t hide behind theory. We are there in the room with you, in the electricity of now, where change actually happens.
.
The Queer Field
Queerness is not décor. It’s a force in the field, a counter‑culture, a refusal to just follow when the world demands obedience, and a way of surviving the following. We work inside that field — the ecstatic, the wounded, the visionary, the unruly, the profound, the mundane. We don’t dilute queer experience to make it digestible. We amplify it until the room vibrates with what’s here.
